Narration In Pursuance Of Books Bubbe Isabella and the Sukkot Cake

The relationships between the main character, Isabella, and her animal friends was a bit strange to me but it could represent differences (to young children). Bubble Isabella was alone every night, with a cake, in a fort that she had built for Sukkot(celebration/festival). The story itself is a silly one, in my opinion, but it addresses a Jewish culture through language, traditions and artistic representations (such as a flag).

Isabella is the only character that is fully realized in this story. She is a sweet old woman who wishes for some company during a Jewish celebration. She enjoys building, decorating, baking, singing, crafting, eating sukkot cake and making new friends. The story was a bit redundant so it may work best for younger children.

This book is strange. Did Bubbe Isabella invite anyone to her sukkah? It kind of seems like she just expects people to show up uninvited. And why is she trying to feed cake to caterpillars? And why doesn't SHE eat the cake? And why is she still trying to serve it to people a week later? It's probably so stale!
