I tried. And it's nothing against this book in particular, but I just can't do werewolf books.The sequel to Lonely Werewolf Girl. I was So! Excited! when I randomly ran across this! YAY MORE KALIX!!!I will say, though, that the beginning felt very stiff to me and if I owned the previous book, instead of having read it from the library, I would have gone back to see if that one felt that way as well. But then the story picked up and sucked me back in. And ultimately I really loved it. There are so many hilarious relationships in these books and so many miscommunications. Oh, Kalix.These
The first book was good as it was written mostly from the perspective of Kalix and college kids, so the relative lack of maturity made sense. However, this book is written from many perspectives and I feel like all the characters kinda blended together, and none of them showed any maturity or responsibility. I just couldn't get into it though I definitely tried
I learned NOTHING from this book, and that's good. I did enjoy it quite a bit.
The first book in the series was amazing, and is one of the most refreshing books I've read in a long time. This second installment continued the series with it's quirky and loveable characters, intricately woven and over-the-top story-lines and wonderful dry and silly humour. Again, I loved it. It had none of the edgy-ness and was rather more like a soap opera on The Family Channel than books that Millar normally puts out. The characters came off as whiney and frustrating. While this is probably what was intended, I wasn't able to lose myself in it. Still and all, it is a new look at a monster genre that doesn't get near enough attention. This was absolutely terrific! Better even than , which was in turn better than . More fun than almost anything I've read this year. An inspiration to fantasy writers everywhere - originality galore and the perfected art of making the implausible seem anything but.
