Ilustration Supposing Books My Lady Notorious (Mallorens & Friends #1)

Desperate to help her widowed sister and baby escape a deadly pursuer, Lady Chastity Ware dresses as a highwayman and captures the first coach to travel down the road. Coming face-to-face with its occupant, the arrogant aristocrat, Cyn Malloren, she orders him to drive her to a remote cottage.

Little does Chastity realize that after long months of recovering from his war wounds, the handsome Cyn is looking for adventure, and being abducted by a cocky highwayman—obviously a lovely woman in disguise—is even more than he had hoped for. Willingly he is drawn into her devilishly reckless plan...and helplessly he is seduced by her wonderfully wicked ways.

Evaluation Of Books My Lady Notorious (Mallorens & Friends #1)
I really wanted to like this. I mean, it has a crossdressing Regency heroine who plays highwayman (but is actually a high-born lady, because it's a Regency romance).I was hoping for something like Catherine Lundoff's "Regency Masquerade" (except for the cis-het audience and longer because that short story is much too short. You can read it in A Day at the Inn, a Night at the Palace and Other Stories). But this book is largely bewildering, and the characters aren't very fun at first. Our hero, for

This was my first Jo Beverley novel, and I'm sure it's also the last. I'm so glad it's over, you have no idea.On the surface, the plot seemed like one of your standard romance plots. Here's a quick rundown: heroine is on the run from evil family, she encounters hero and he ends up assisting, they evade the bad guys and fall in love, heroine falls into danger once more but escapes and reunites with hero, and then they hatch a plot to foil the bad guys and live happily ever after when the plot

I picked up this book because I had wanted to read a lighthearted Georgian romance. The blurb seemed interesting and the first part of the book (till about 44%) fit the bill perfectly. There was a lady who defied conventions by dressing up as a man and by kidnapping the brother of a Marquess. That part was fun. There were a few red herrings, though; for instance, why did she call her sister, Verity, by her real name in front of him? After that, she proceeded to tell the stranger (Cyn) that

It's been 2 years, almost to the day, since I last read this and I admit I was curious as to whether my opinion would have changed. No.. that's the simple answer. I love Chastity and Cyn and god help me but I love Fort and Rothgar too. What can I say that hasn't been said other than go read it, you won't be disappointed.

Excellent narration by Alison Larkin of the wonderfully funny and sexy My Lady Notorious. Larkin's narration captured the nuances of the amusing dialogue and subtly used a variety of accents and tones to differentiate the characters. Did a fine job of inhabiting the alternate voices of Lady Chastity, and her alter egos, Charles and Chloe. Can't wait for further audiobook renditions of Jo Beverley's Malloren series!

The first time I read this, i was too lazy to write an actual review. This time, I figure my opinions have changed a little, so I might as well. And they have, though ever so slightly.Chastity Ware is disgraced and spends her time dressed up as a man (especially since her mad father shaved off her hair). When her older sister, Verity and her newborn son come to her in need of her help, Chastity would do anything to protect her, from the horrid brother-in-law and their father. Unfortunately, the

Tough cross-dressing heroine plus light-hearted (occasionally cross-dressing) hero equals happiness -- I liked this a lot, more than any of the Company of Rogues books I've read so far (except maybe Forbidden). I particularly liked that there were several opportunities for the Big Misunderstanding between the hero and the heroine, and instead of going there, they actually worked things out. I shall be seeking out the rest of the Malloren books.
