Chobits, Vol. 5 (Chobits #5)
Chapters 49–60
I'd watched and liked the anime version when I was still a kid. For now, I got no plans for buying a copy.
Although the story remains interesting, we do come across some cliches (which seems inevitable) as Hideki grapples for his feelings with Chi, and the hints that Chi might have, gasp, superpowers.

Oh good I remembered who the writer of the book was. I still don't remember the whole Yumi/Ueda thing tho.And I'm assuming what's important to both humans and Persocoms is happiness, right?
Overall review of the series:Though obvious fan service and innuendo is inherent in manga, some of it in this series gives me reason to suggest that this particular series be kept to 18+, or maybe a little younger with an open conversation with an adult along the way. The authors' choice to put sixteen-year-old-looking Chi's reset switch in her vagina to a big question in the end, "Do you want to be with Chi even if you can't have sex with her?" Well, it's just good to know what you're getting
The kidnapping plot is resolved. The author of the mysterious books is revealed to us. It's much too early for Chi or Hideki to know who it is yet. And we get some interesting revelations about Yumis past, which will probably be developed further in the next volume.Things are chugging along nicely. Only three more volumes to go. Recommended!
I absolutely adore this manga by CLAMP. They manage to take some extremely pertinent and complex questions about the nature of love and the individuality of robots, and combine them with one of the most adorable romances ever!

Description As Books Chobits, Vol. 5 (Chobits #5)
If a persocom's memories are stored on a hard drive, are they real? After all, a hard drive can simply be erased. This question has been driving Hideki mad as he searches for his kidnapped 'com, Chi. Hideki has always maintained that persocoms are just machines, but his heart tells him that there's something special about Chi, and he can't let her come to harm. As Hideki and friends follow the kidnapper's online footprints to his lair, a mysterious duo keeps watch on the proceedings with great concern. Chi has proven once before that she holds the potential to be quite dangerous, despite her innocent exterior. Should her self-defense mechanism activate again, it could prove even more destructive. The clock is ticking, both in Hideki's search for Chi and Chi's search to complete herself.Chapters 49–60

The kidnapping plot is resolved as Hideki, Minoru and Shimbo storm the home of 'Dragonfly' to get Chi back. There's some obvious metaphors at work here - Chi attacking Dragonfly telling him ""Do not come inside me" because her kidnapper is not the person meant for her - both fan-service and a nice metaphor. It's also clarified in this one that yes Yumi was indeed the girl Chiroru ditched in favour of his perscom which explains her animosity. This volume is as high quality as the previous 4.I'd watched and liked the anime version when I was still a kid. For now, I got no plans for buying a copy.
