Interpretation During Books The Grass Is Always Greener over the Septic Tank
I love Erma's books! While other kids were sneakily reading the latest issue of Batman or Archie & Veronica comic books between the pages of their schoolbooks during class I was trying not to get caught laughing too loudly at the pages of the latest book by humorist author Erma Bombeck. Its safe to say that I grew up with her books and her name, and stories, just like V.C. Andrews', another author I grew up reading, brings back a lot of good reading memories. Erma, and her writing, will be dearly missed. We lucky that she left behind a treasure trove of very funny writing in her wake for generations to enjoy.

I saw this on Kindle Unlimited and thought - who knew Erma Bombeck was still writing books! I remembered my mom commenting about her being when I was a kid. OH. This is not a new book - she died in 1996! They modernized the cover!A very quick read - she is very funny in a 1950-1970s kind of way, you know? Part dad humor, part old fashioned stand up with the drum and cymbal sound effect. She was quite creative and witty in her day. This book tells of "her" life - but really it isn't hers...movingI love Erma's books! I found this on a table at work with a mysterious note offering it free to a good home. It's pretty outdated and probably suited more to those with a nostalgia for 1970s suburbia. Somewhat amusing in parts though.

I used to have a newspaper column. It sucked. I was forever watching deadlines fly past while I sat helplessly at my post, trying to wring humor from the dry sponge of my brain.Like most children of the 1980s, I grew up in a house replete with Erma Bombeck's pithy observations of the banality of suburban life, although by the time "The Grass is Always Greener Over the Septic Tank" was published, she was a bestselling author and television personality living in a hacienda in Phoenix, Arizona,
I read this dated book for a book club. At its time, it was very funny, but now it seems lost. The one chapter worth reading should be read to the Music Man tune "Ya Got Trouble." It is in the chapter of the same name. Bombeck dercries the proposed creation of a drive-in movie in the neighborhood. It is rather clever in its language. Don't bother with the whole book unless you are doing a paper on the creation of the suburbs. Just read that chapter!
***4.5 stars***This is my first time reading Erma Bombeck's book and I enjoyed it! She was an American humorist who found fame in the mid-1960s until late 1990s for her newspaper column. For a book that was written in 1976, I can honestly say that it was pretty funny. She writes about the perils, the ups and downs living in the suburbs, one that named Suburban Gems. It was pretty hilarious because they were spot on. I enjoyed her wit, dry sense of humor and that the language is clean. I will
80 percent through this book and I thought I was done with Erma Bombeck. But then I noticed that I was getting less and less clueless as the chapters went by. I'm going to give this author another go, because I'm hoping her next bestseller is totally as nice as Chapters 11 and 12 here. Something kept nagging my brain while I read. Then I realized that something was the repressed tone and dry humor. This book, published in the 70's but about events - I use the term loosely - in the 50's,
