Out Of The Flames
Taking a job at the local fire station is only natural and Carl immediately feels right at home. He quickly becomes friends with Jim, a younger firefighter. Jim stirs emotions Carl has sworn off and forces him to face ghosts Carl would rather just leave behind.
As the two grow closer, can Jim break through Carl's walls and find a happiness that Carl doesn't think he deserves?
This is a review of my second reading of Out of the Flames. I originally gave it 5 stars when I read it 2 years ago, but dropped a star as It didn't quite hold up as well as I thought. MC Carl was kind of a whiner and pissed me off several times and the author kept using weird descriptions during the sex scenes like, "...relaxing his teeth, talking the male deeper." The male? (I counted. She did that 9 times.)MC firefighter Carl moves to Idaho from his native New York to start over after losing
I loved this book. This author's books are not complicated stories, but they do leave you feeling great at the end! On to the next one. I would call this a naptime story. It is a quick read and leaves you feel good!
A nice, sweet story.
I liked the MC's and felt they were short changed because the relationship was lacking any deep and meaningful involvement. The instant love would have been okay if the story was developed more, a novella or novel would have worked best.
I enjoyed this 3.5* really. It needed to be longer. Some of the meaningful conversations didn't happen or weren't mentioned. The big decision was no surprise I'm glad it happened while they were away from each other and that they were settled before the big climax.

Moving to Idaho is just the change he is looking for. Rating 3.5 to 4Enjoyable read. I liked the firefighter details in the story. Jim and Carl made a good couple. I liked their instant attraction but appreciated even more the slower build of their relationship. I am glad Carl made his big decision before the somewhat predictable climax, it made his choice more real for me versus a result of a life or death situation. This is a review of my second reading of Out of the Flames.
